The scoring
Everything is built on a simple target.
1Outer ringBone-white perimeter. The "you showed up" point.
3Middle ringForest green. Solid throw. Most events average here.
5Inner + bullseyeGold + rust + the black dot. Where money is made.
7Kill shotsTwo green dots, upper corners. Must be called before you throw. Hit it → 7. Miss the dot → 0 even if you stick the bullseye.
Coach calls each round, manages disputes, and resets axes between throws. You just throw.

Skill / AccuracySkill test
Around the World
Hit every ring in order. First to complete wins.
2-4players
Until done
10-15min
skill
Stick the outer ring, then middle, then inner, then bullseye, then kill shot — each ring exactly once. Skip a ring or hit out of order and you reset to the start. Brutal accuracy test. The coach narrates each successful step like a play-by-play announcer.
On recordAvg finish 9-14 throws · cleanest run on record: 7 throws (a thrower from Roanoke, no missed step)
How it plays
Players alternate throws, working through the ring sequence.
Order is fixed: outer (1pt zone) → middle (3) → inner (5) → bullseye (center) → kill-shot dot.
You must stick each ring exactly once before advancing.
Skip a ring or hit out of order → reset to step 1.
First to land the kill shot wins. Coach announces every step like a play-by-play.
Coach tipSlow down. Speed-throwers reset on the inner ring constantly because they pull the bullseye accidentally.
Best for experienced throwers, late rounds when the crowd has warmed up, side-bet matches.
PartyParty staple
A-X-E (Axe Throwing's HORSE)
Copy the throw. Miss = a letter. Spell A-X-E and you're out.
2-4players
Open-ended
15-25min
skill
Call your shot ("inner ring, top-left quadrant"), then stick it. Your opponent has to match it exactly. Miss the call = earn a letter. Spell A-X-E and you're eliminated. Style points encouraged: call a kill shot through bullseye? Coach will allow it.
On recordAvg duel runs 6-8 throws · longest standoff: 23 throws at a March bachelor party
How it plays
Active player calls a specific shot ("inner ring, top-left quadrant") and throws it.
If they stick the called shot, every opponent must match it exactly.
Opponent misses the called shot → they earn a letter (A, then X, then E).
If the caller misses their own called shot, no letter goes out — turn passes.
Spell A-X-E and you're eliminated. Last player not spelled out wins.
Coach tipStyle points — call a quadrant + a rotation count ("inner ring, two-spin") and the whole crowd loses it.
Best for friend groups, birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, anyone who liked HORSE in driveway basketball.
